1. Long time friend that turns to love and passionate affair...not sure of ultimate outcome...we will always love each other but not sure if we could live together forever.

I'd say No.1. No.2 is just a friend. There has to be an attraction.

Go with number one. I understand that in time love may fade to friendship, but if the initial sparks are not there you will always wonder.
Wondering 'what if' is not the way to live your life.
