I asked this because I loved Bill Nye when I was little. I am now studying to be a teacher and I am considering showing it in my classroom.

Who said there was anything wrong with it? I say go ahead and show it. Its humor wiht learning, im in 7th grade right now, and ive only seen one Bill Nye movie (last year) and I learned a lot from it. because the humor made it easier to watch and memorize, because 'some' kids will repeat the science jokes and therefore....they have learned something!!

I think its a great idea. But hey go with your gut!

It's a wonderful program to show. While Bill Nye sometimes oversimplifies things, he does a great job of explaining a broad range of topics in a way kids can relate to.

Nothing wrong with it. I think nowadays a similar show that is relatively well known is Myth Busters.

But just showing videos isn't good of course. Hands-on activities and labs are nice. For example MBL, microcomputer-based labs, where for example you have a distance sensor and students can move an object back and forth while the motion is plotted in real time on a velocity or distance graph.
