Okay, I've gone through the whole interview process and I got a job as an Office Manager with "some payroll duties". So, I've got some experience in payroll for a large company with a very nice program that did a great deal of the work for me. And, I'm familiar with employment laws and such; so, I'm not worried about that. But, apparently, in this company, I will need to manually calculate payroll--including deducting state and city taxes, Medicare, etc. Does anyone out there have any experience with manually doing payroll in Kentucky?

There are many sources to learn about payroll deduction but go to the top sources to get started:

1) State Tax
http://revenue.ky.gov/business/whtax.htm
Employers must withhold the income tax of the employees receiving "wages" as defined in Section 3401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.
2) Learn more about Federal Tax needs at:

I've never done payroll manually, but I bet there are excel spreadsheet templets available that you can customize.

Go to office.microsoft.com and search "payroll" in the templates tab. I hope this helps!
