I am the same with beef. I understand the rest of America thinks I'm nuts... (at least those who do eat beef). I just have patience with them and usually there are enough other things to eat without having to focus on the beef. After a while, most everyone has accepted my choice without causing a big deal.

Actually pork has parasites; that's why pork chops have to be cooked completely or they can make you seriously ill. A lot of people don't like pork: bacon, sausage, ham, etc.
I can't judge your mother since I don't live with you but I wonder if maybe she's concerned about this decision. Is it something that you just recently came up with or have you felt this way about pork for a long time? Have you talked with her about the reasons behind your dislike of pork? Have you explained this sudden change to her (if it's sudden)?
Something else to consider: she may think that it's a religious thing, since the Jews were not allowed to eat pork, if so, she may not like the religious aspects of not eating pork, she may not like religion at all.
Try to figure out why this matters to her before you get upset that she's not understanding.
If there's a chance that she just doesn't understand the why behind your decision then explain it.

I think you're being overly sensitive. It sounds like you're being silly and you're mother is calling you out on it. Anyway there's nothing wrong with eating pork, people have been eating it for thousands of years. You should put your beliefs to better use, like trying to eat more organic, free-range, and non-GMO products or recycling and buying recycled products. This is more usefull than irrationally singleling out one specific animal and choosing not to eat it. Standing your ground on moral issues is good, but make careful researched decisions on where your morals stand and try to keep the big picture in mind.
Also realizing that your mother is probably just having a little fun with you and having a sense of humor about it is also a good idea.

If you live with your mom and she does the cooking and buying of the food, I would say that Ham will be just fine on Christmas.
I love ham, you should try it, very good indeed. I love pork too. Nothing like southern pork bbq

Well don't eat the ham you mum buys at Christmas. But I think your mum should respect your wishes not to eat ham, and stop making an issue our this.

Sure it is wrong on the surface. There sounds like there are some deeper issues than your belief in not eating pigs.

Actually, what she's doing can be considered a hate crime. If she's only providing thing to eat that your faith prohibits, then take her to court. My parents would have been thrilled if I found any religion while I was living with them.

If you are the child and she is the adult, you will have to learn to eat what she buys, unless you can get a job and buy what you want.
