As your period goes on, it gets lighter and lighter... as opposed to the heavy flow you will have at the beginning. When you pull out the tampon, and it is not bloody, you are done. It then should be safe not to wear one. Don't stress it, you will get used to this stuff very quickly.
Even if it should start up again after you decide not to wear a tampon, it will not be very heavy at all, and you will most-likely be able to feel it before it makes any kind of mess.

Well the length of your period varies from each person, but usually it's about a week long, and when you get it, after awhile, you'll just be able to tell when it's done. It's obviously over when you're not longer bleeding, and when that happens, STOP wearing the tampons. If you're nervous that you might bleed more later (sometimes that does happen--- you think it's over but its really not) then just wear a pad.

If your mother is a doctor she should know that it is dnagerous for young girls to use tampons until after they've had they're period of one year. I highly recommend you don't use tampons. You'll know when you stop bleeding and that is when you can remove what ever your using. You might want to use a pantyliner a couple of days after your period due to dark discharge that can ruin undies. Good Luck. And congratulations on coming into woman hood.

Most people who have their periods find that when the cycle is ending, their blood flow tends to get less and less. This will continue until there's hardly any blood left and the discharge turns back to the yellowish or clear, slippery stuff you had before.
And when your period stops, you stop wearing tampons. Easy as that. Don't wear tampons when you don't have your period, it's just wasteful and you don't need it. I usually use pads all the time, unless I'm swimming. I use pantiliners during the last few days until I see yellowish stuff in it again.
Congrats! =CD

most women bleed for 5 to 7 days and you'll know when you stop bleeding because there well be no more bleeding. If you are really concerned ask you mother she's a doctor right.

it usually lasts any where from 5-6 days the way you see it is over is when you stop bleeding it will slow down and the color will change from red to a red/brownish color. The first 3-4 days are usually the heaviest for me good luck

maybe you should wear a pad until your periiod starts or panti liners cause its not good or comfrtable to wear a tampon when you dont have your period. and when you first get it, it should be pretty light jsut go to the bathroom frequently and be prepared with stuff, so you dont freak. maybe motion in ur backpack will help if u have cramps.
