Evil indeed! I want to say things to my little brother, but my mother caught up with the plan and I was told in no uncertain terms the dire consequences of my plan: If I ruined his Christmas she would make sure nothing was under the tree for me but a lump of coal, if I was indeed lucky. All my presents would go back and money would have been spent upon him instead!
So plan derailed? I was going to tell him Santa had died. I wasn't as bright as you were. Indeed! Saying he was shot down by the IRA!!!
And yes, children can be evil at times. I was always cheeky wanting to one-up everyone. Well, short of ar*sing my Mum. She had me fooled into thinking she was the most mean, evil, and all powerful witch in all the United Kingdom, Canada, and the USA all at once!
In reality she was, like her mum, my Gram, a true sweetheart--she just knew how to outting me, the little Prat I was!

Sorry no we're not celebrating the birth of christ. I believe history has establish jesus was born some time in march. For a start there were lambs around so december's not looking likely is it. What we are actually celebrating is the winter solstice. The shortest day and the day on which the earth is furthest from the sun. It's been celebrated for approximately 7000 years in the northern hemisphere. When the early Christians spread through europe they made chose to include their own religious believes in the already existing celebration. I think you may be confusing a lie with a fable as well. The bible is full of fables, they are not considered to be lies. Santa Claus embodies the spirit of christmas. Generosity, appreciation for our loved ones, and good old fashioned fun. My understanding of the christian religion is these things are not entirely at odds with christian doctrine. I hope you enjoy the winter solstice too.

Now you must remember I'm an ole fart!! We lived in an old farmhouse with a coal furnace. I told my sister that if Santa came down the chimney he'd just land in the furnace and burn up(Hey! Daddy told me that a year or so before!!) Of course she cried and pitched a fit and we had to leave the front door unlocked(this was after Mom gave me a "serious talking to" while my Dad laughed in the background giving me the "funny---but stop it!" eyeball!)

My little sister came up to me when she was 8 and asked if there was a santa. I told her yes of course. My brother on the other hand told her santa went to everyone elses house but hers. I thought it was terrible. She later heard him say Santa wasnt real. She came to me and asked me again. I told her that he lies in her heart and whatever she believes is true. She replied, " i know hes real but i dont think he comes to our houses anymore..but im not going to say it out loud..because i dont want him to not bring me presents.." i thought it was cute.
