Hey, if she wants to throw a shower, go for it! That's one of the fun parts of pregnancy.... especially if it's your friend who's pregnant!

Definately! Around that time you'll be in the "safe-zone" which means you'll have defeated any likely hood of a miscarriage. So your pregnancy should be in good sailing.
Have it now because when your in your 2nd trimester or 3rd youre going to get even more hormonal and want to be around close friends especially being so far away. So when you get to that point you can be overseas and look over cute pictures of your baby shower which will help you overcome any loneliness, plus your going to need all those great gifts!!!Good luck sweetie.....

if i were you i would hold off. so much can happen in that time. she could throw you a party though. on the other hand, there is probably a lot of baby stuff that will be too expensive in belgium. so it is really up to you.
i had a baby in japan about 6 months ago and we had it import almost all the stuff- bouncy chair, packnplay, even wipes! but it was worth it for us because stuff here is too expensive.
best to you and your family!
and good luck having the baby abroad. it can be nerveracking at times but i am sure you will be fine.

You have to be positive. If you need things and are able to take them with you then have a shower. It is an honor to have friends that care so much. They will charish the memories as much as you will. Also, they may not have the things where your going that they do here and you will be thankful you have it. Party, have fun, enjoy the parties and that baby and the adventure your life has in store for you and yours.

Thank her for her kindness and ask her to postpone the shower. Consider having a video shower via the web with a web cam, if she would like, and the gifts can be sent to you. We did this for a bridal shower (mostly gift certificates and money), because the bride could not come in for the shower. It worked wonderfully.

Let her throw you the shower if you don't mind bringing all the gifts with you. Or if you don't want to drag those things over, just have a small party with cards and cake, etc and no gifts to celebrate your pregnancy.

Congrats and Good luck.

I would because your going to be gone for 3 years and by your friend having a shower for you that would lessen the amount of stuff you would have to buy on your own.

It's up to you and what people you know believe in. I understand why you would want to have it now. If it were me I MIGHT do it b/c I would want one with them before I left, but on the other hand, my family and friends are superstitious and make you wait until your seven months. It supposed to mean bad luck if before. Ask around there though. If your family and friends are ok with it then do it.

i think it is really up to you. if you do end up having the shower i would have them get things that can be used for a girl and a boy.
congrats and good luck!
