I am going to visit my Son and daughter-in-law, and my 7 month old granddaughter, she is our first, and we have not seen her since her birth.

Not the "best answer" but it's what we do. Christmas Eve is hubby and I and whoever wants to stop by---snacks and drinks--chitty chatting with friends. Christmas day is the kids coming over, someone going to gather up Grampa (my Daddy) and bringing him over to my house (LOL! He loves that! All dressed, sitting with his cane by his front door, waiting for his ride!!!). Once he gets here it's gift opening, Daddy remarking on which of my beagles is the best one, then dinner (with everyone "sneaking" treats to the pups), just a good family time--and total contentment at the end of the day! And every year Dad has to walk thru my living room to go "thru his woods". We live in a log cabin and we added another 18 x 15 room made from trees from his property! Gee! Even if it's not the best answer I just got a warm fuzzy happy feeling anticipating it!!!

FINALLY -- after being a Long-Term Single Parent to TWO Disabled children ... this Empty-Nesting Single Retiree is:
Going to enjoy the PEACE and QUIET of her COMFY HOME ... sleep in a little, and then wake up to a hot herbal tea ... watch a few Christmas DVDs ... read a book (or maybe two!), just relax (because I deserve it too).
Then .. for the first time in over a Quarter Century ... I won't be standing at the stove for the last 48 hours cooking ... it will be a meal for ONE -- ah the sheer PLEASURE of being quite ALONE!
Such a joy to have this on this Christmas Day -- I've needed it for a many, many years.
