I thought it sounded like the fan was vibrating. Kind of a whir, (pause) whir, (pause). So I took the cover off and I was right! My computer has 2 fans, (maybe they all do what do I know) it is the smaller one inside that makes a vibrating noise when I spin it. My question is, Can I do anything about it myself? Or do I HAVE to take it in the computer whiz downtown.

I DID IT! It wasn’t even that difficult, I LOVE it when I can fix things with my own 2 hands. I’m up and running again and it only cost me $20.00 for a new fan. Thanks to ALL of you for your fast responses and GREAT advice I really appreciate it!

You can replace this fan yourself. It plugs directly into the motherboard. The new fan would run you about 30.00.

Looks like your fan is getting bad. What I would do first is try getting like a cotton swab or wet paper towel clean it from the dust if there is any on the fan When a fan is dirty it affects performance and can make noise If not you would be better off with a new one. Also make sure that it is properly installed.

All puters DONT have two fans, but there are different types as well. My techie told ME to keep my fan away from an Open Door where DIRT flies in AND to keep my tower away from house fans, etc that can cause Excessive Dirt to go into the puter,as well.

Just make certain you DONT void any warranty you may have on
ure system, by fixing it ureself hon. ICY

You could try to replace a fan but if you do not know too much about don't screw around with it, you would not want to mess it up.
