I have asked this question several times to my ex, but he dodges the question. How can I investigate if he has paid?

Call IRS with your SS #, they are very helpful, explain to them your situation.
Dont be afraid to contact them they are nice and will tell if they have records of filing taxes just with your SS#, if they have your taxes filed and you didnt sign anything you must to tell them, you never know what your ex-husband could file.... and you could get in trouble. If they dont have anything under your social security you have to file taxes late and pay a penalty, dont panic, they will work a payment plan if you need but call them ASAP and get the phone # from the web site, www.irs.gov.

call the IRS, or your local tax office. You have his Social sec # dont you??
