I just found out I'm pregnant a week ago. I'm guessing I'm about 5 weeks. Ever since I found out i'm pregnant I've been feeling really worried and guilty. The 4 weeks prior to finding out I was drinking wine alot, taking fat burners and stimulant laxatives (lots of them). I have had an eating disorder for years. Ever since I found out I'm pregnant I've stopped all the bad stuff and I've been exercising and eating healthy but I'm wondering what impact if any this had on the fetus? Does anyone know?

I drank quite a bit before I found out I was pregnant with my son. I also took fat burners. I quit as soon as I found out also. My son was born as healthy as can be. I did tell my doctor the things I did before I found out I was pregnant, just incase something would have been wrong. It's really good that you quit doing all of that when you found out. Just let your doctor know. Good luck!

My Dr told me there shouldn't be no problems,I'm 34 weeks pregnant I was taking pills to loose wait exercising stopped eating everything to loose the wait and when i found out i was pregnant i felt guilty worried that something would be wrong with my baby, and thank God that my baby is fine well at least no problems have been detected on the ultrasound so far. So just have faith and hopefully everything is fine with your baby.

One can never know the impact, but i think god does something to help protect the tiny fetus, especially before you can even know. I think you will be just fine. It wasn't for an extended period of time and you should now concentrate on you and your precious baby. If your worried alot, maybe you should talk to someone or think about the options you have as a new mother. Such as adoption, the baby's father, and financial and emotional things.

Many women drink, or partake in unhealthy activities before they know that they are pregnant. Your body does a pretty good job at protecting your unborn during the time when you are unaware that you are preg. Now that you know, you will make good decisions, and have healthy habits. The most critical times in development come toward the end of the first 12 weeks. . . long after most women are aware that they are preg. Do not be too hard on yourself, and be healthy from now on!

I think your fetus will be just fine, just as long as you continue to quit all the "bad stuff". With my son I didn't know I was pregnant and I drank one weekend, and went to Six Flags another before finding out. He is almost eight and very healthy. Congrats on the baby.

well you are doing the right thing by stopping all unhealthy habbits and that's all you can do. Lots of women do things such as drink alcohol in the beginning because they dont know that they are pregnant and go on to have healthy babies. Just continue to eat healthy and start taking prenantal vitamins, youll be fine.

The baby is not usually as vulnerable right at the beginning because it's not integrated into your blood supply. For the first week it's just a free-floating zygote not attached to anything. The week after that it is pretty much just living in the lining of your uterus. It's after that that it matters. It's about the time you miss your first period that the baby starts to become very vulnerable to stuff.

I got drunk alot and was on really bad meds and smoked like crazy. Found out I was preg... and I quit it all. My baby was fine. I quit about 5 weeks.

Babe will be fine if you do it good from now on. And hey, now you have an excuse to get bigger, so maybe your eating disorder will go away):):

Probably not much impact. The fetus doesn't need much when it is only the size of a pea. Now get on your vitamins and put on some pounds.
