2 years ago, one of my friend (girl) is pretty tight and skinny. before the summer, i told her she looks great and "keep in shape."
i dont know for SOME REASON. she took those words to another level. despite of her already skinny body, she started dieting. when the school started again, she was HORRENDOUSLY thin. i think, according to her ad, she claims she is 98 lbs and 5'4. but no, she is skinnier than THAT!
MY QUESTION IS: is it just her, or many girls do take words from guys very seriously to an extreme level?

it depends. We dont care about every guys opinion. She must have had some special respect for your opinion to over analyze it like that. If you think shes not healthy anymore, get her help. Hopefully your opinion still means something to her.

Yeah, I would say she probably took what you said the wrong way and thought it had a negative connotation. It varies from girl to girl with the depth of their insecurity, but lots of girls are really self conscious about their appearance, especially when it comes to her weight. Also, it's a definite possibility that she likes you. That could be why she took your words so seriously.

ANYONE can take words from ANYONE to an extreme level, not just girls. That's such a crappy generalization... as if we're all supposed to give a sh*t what guys say to us. A guy can take something to heart, too. It all depends on the individual and their thought process, not the gender.

Yeah, get used to it. Some girls just completely misunderstand you. It is always going to happen. Some girls are more comprehensive about what you are saying though. All people are different and take different approaches.

what makes you think it was your words that caused this reaction? If she was already "tight and skinny" maybe she alrady had a problem. If she is that dangerously thin she needs help recognizing healthy verses skiny. overweight is not healty but neither is to thin.

i know if you said that to me i would take it and go on. now if she was overweight and you said something down to her that is another story. share your concern with her and tell her that you think that she is loosing to much weight! I almost lost my best friend due to an eating disorder it is nothing to mess with.

Well, I have the sense to know what is good or bad for me. I listen to my husband and if it makes sense I'll do it but if it doesn't he's out of luck.
