I know that there are already cars that run on ethanol or are at least capable of running on ethanol even though the availability of ethanol is still limited. What I'm looking for is a HYBRID that when not powered by it's electric system, uses an alternative fuel and it appears that ethanol will become the next alternative.

Not yet, and not that I foresee. Ethanol, as nice as it sounds right now really isn't catching on. With the energy consumption of creating it, its really not a technology many analysts feel will last.

GM's next announced hybrid will be an electric hybrid (not a gas-electric hybrid like the Toyota Prius). It is said that its electric motor will be the only thing powering the wheels and that the gas engine merely recharges the electric engine's batteries.

Honda's next-gen technology will probably be a Hydrogen vehicle wit $3000 hydrogen pumps that you can install in your house that run off your natural gas.

Toyota is working on a multitude of things. One being a straight-from-the-factory plug-in gas-electric hybrid.

There were runors about a Ford Escape Hybrid that is E85 capable, but I have not heard much about it lately. It would not be a huge change to accomodate a flex-fuel engine, but it would also not give that much benefit.

forget hybrids - we need to start using hydro-powered cars. The technology has been around for 30 years...

I don't know of one, there may be one coming, but I haven't heard about it.
Many GM vehicles will already run on ethanol anyway.

There might be one's in the future. I'm not really sure of any that are out now. Sorry, if I can't be of any help.
