6 people each shake hands with 5 other people.
6 x 5 is 30 handshakes.

I would say 30 because the one who shakes the others shakes 5 of them each 6 persons X five handshakes makes it 30. Right ?

Think a 6x6 table : 36 combinations
'Each person shake hands with every "other" person' : 36-6=30 because A doesn't shake hand to A.
When A shake hands with B, B shakes hand with A too. We have always to different fields in our table:
30:2=15
That's the answer

Considering each person shakes only with the right hand and each person has a right hand, I think it is twelve handshakes.

6 people: A B C D E F

A shakes hands with C and E,
B shakes hands with D and F,
C shakes hands with E and A,
D shakes hands with B and F,
E shakes hands with A and C,
F shakes hands with B and D.

Depending on how you define it, 15 or 30. 15 handshakes, all experienced by 2 people. (5+4+3+2+1+0)

The first person shakes 5 others.

The second person shakes 5 also, but we need to subtract the 1 who we already counted as just having shook his hand = 4

And on it goes to 15 (or 30)

15 handshakes total....lets call the people A, B, C, D, E, and F.
"A" shakes hands with B,C,D,E, and F , five handshakes.
"B" then starts shaking hands, he has already shook hands with A, so B shakes hands with C, D, E, and F, four more for a semi total of 9....
C shakes withD,E, and F , three more....up to 12
D shakes with E and F, add two more, (14) and
E shakes hands only with F ,(15)
F has already shaken everyones hands.
