Go to the link below. It is a comparison of the top virus software. I use Norton System Works But there are some better ones. I like the features though and it has always worked for me.

I have to agree with another poster. AVG is free antivirus software and is of course free for the single user. Also for security, I use Zone Alarm as my firewall which is once again, free. See the links below

As a computer consultant/technician, I have been switching all of my customers (with more than 50 now converted) over to AVG for the following reasons:

1) EFFICIENCY: few running processes (especially compared to Norton) and a small footprint on your hard drive, just 24MB installed!

2) STABILITY: I have had no crashes with AVG in 3 YEARS on my computer and have had only one service call from a customer over the same period.

3) PRICE: free for personal use and NO CHARGES EVER for updates

I can give a few links that offer free virus and spyware removers...!You may be having a virus or spyware installed on your PC. Norton, AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at

I prefer McAfee, it is very light and does not affect the over all performance of your machine.
