Can he be suspended 2days before midterms for wearing a jacket that he has worn for most of the year?

ok...our school has like 50 people in the entire high school...so that eliminates people not seeing him in it...and all it had on it was "The Ramones" and a pic of the band so it wasnt offensive...and hes worn it most of the year (ever since it got cold)...it was the head of the school board that suspended him...but now he cant take his midterms cause of this and they are worth 30% of the final grade!...this was the first time -that i know of- that he has been told not to wear it...they should at least give him time to buy a new one...

NO!!!! He got suspended for wearing a jacket that promoted the Ramones??? They can't do that unless it violates dress code. Is your school a uniform school? If so it's possible that the jacket was in violation of the dress code. What did the jacket say? Did it say anything sexual or offensive to anyone? Check out your school's dress code to see what was wrong with the jacket.
About the fact that he got suspended because of the jacket after wearing it for most of the year, it might be that nobody saw him wear the jacket before. Like I said, check out your school's dress code in the handbook that they always give you at the beginning of the school year. If you find that the jacket wasn't doing anything wrong, go to the person that got your friend suspended and talk to them about your (and his) concerns. Maybe you guys could work it out.

Yes or no. If there is anything about the dress code in the student code of conduct, check it out. If it does not clarify as to why someone might be suspended then the suspension is fair. However if nothing is mentioned about this kind of occurence then the suspension is not valid.
If there was any kind of inappropriate saying or reference on the jacket then the claim is quite valid.

I guess that depends on the schools rules. If its cleary in violation of the rules then his bad for trying to get away with it. If the rules is fuzzy in anyway I'd fight it. Especially if he has worn it numerous times before..... BTW just what is on the jacket?

That's ridiculous. Check out the school handbook. Then tell him to fight it if there's nothing in the handbook banning wearing clothes that advertise a band.

how many times was he previously told not to wear the jacket to school anymore? if never... he should fight it and ask to go before the school board. thats the only way to fight a suspension.
