I tried the garden center down the road but was told you can only get a contact spray for grasshoppers so I would have to sit there all day waiting to get them. I work all day so that is out of the question

Systemic insect poison for the roses. I use that and the bugs grasshoppers included stay of the roses.

Try 7 dust or some mild soap and water and spray on roses. I know their leaves hate to be wet. Could try liquid 7 but the 7-dust would be better.

you can buy Mantis from garden center or get bird food to attract birds to eat them. They are grasshopper's natural enemy, why poison your rose when you can use a more healthy way?

sprinkle them with sevin dust. Planting marigolds around them also keeps insects away.

no, that isnt true, I had a lawn company spray for them last spring when they were little, so you can get spray somewhere. also try beer,
