I am not asking which place I should work for.

I just hear so many complainst against Wal Mart & am curious if Target is any better, or are they just escaping the criticism because they aren't as big as Wal Mart?

Wal-Mart is caught in the cross hairs of the AFL-CIO. There's a very carefully orchestrated campaign underway to paint WM as anti-worker. Other self-interested groups (environmentalists, NIMBYs, smaller competitors) have jumped on the bandwagon.

But most of the things you are hearing are hand-picked facts spun to serve the self-interests of these groups. You don't get to be a $300 billion corporation by not serving the public.

They do what they do very well, generally better than their competitors (up until now, anyway). The real Q is, "does America still want WM's mix of mega-store dominance and low prices in a low-frills setting?".
