Well.. it depends. On your mother board.
1GB is more than enough if u dont have a dual channel board.

If yor mother board is dual channel (ie 4 ram slots),its better u have the 1GB as 2x512 as it makes it faster (how do u hav em nw? 2x512 or jst 1 stick of 1GB?).

But if u r having only 1 stick of 1GB, a dual channel board, desire for faster performance and of course, money. i suggest u go in for another 1GB stick.since having a 2x1GB makes it faster on a dual channel board.

I think that 1 GB is much more than enough.

1 GB is pretty good. What you might run into is that you might have to replace both SDRAM chips so that you have a matching set. I am guessing that you have 2 512MB chips now.

1 GB of ram is more than enough for everyday stuff...some high-end games may require more, but it all depends on what you do.
