Uncle Tom's Cabin is about the lives of slaves in the south. It has been a long time since I read it. I think ms Stowe was an activist against slavery so that was probably the reason she wrote it. I seem to remember that the book caused a lot of people in the north who had no real experience with the lives of slaves in the south to become very upset about it. People in the south were upset about the book because they claimed that it wasn't a true account of plantation life. It made the gap between the north and the south widen. try to think of the book as one of the sparks that helped to light the fuse that set off the civil war.
