i have sat with my legs crossed probably starting when i was around seven now i am fourty. i cross them every time i sit down, eventually after a long priod of crossing my top leg gets numb. i have heard that crossing your legs can cause vein problems, back problems, and hip problems, i dont have any at all, but is this true that it is bad? do you cross your legs also? and are you aware it might be bad?

Here is the probably the weirdest answer you'll get to your question: When I was a boy growing up in a Greek-American household, I was taught that you should "never cross your legs in a Greek Orthodox Church." I was never taught why . . . or that it was bad . . . just that you "never cross your legs in a Greek Orthodox Church."
Meanwhile, I've gone through life crossing and uncrossing my legs pretty much as will, so you might want to consider this advice that I usually give when someone your age asks a question like yours: "I've lived this long being me; I guess I can live a while longer!" Best wishes.

I cross my legs all the time. I have heard that crossing your legs can cause your veins to clot. Some people in my family have had that happen.

When you cross your legs, the compression of the blood vessels impedes the blood flow in your legs. That's why they go numb. Remember that your blood carries oxygen to all parts of your body. Over time, you can develop varicose veins and your legs might be prone to muscle cramping.

Hi, when you mean crossing your legs do you mean like how primary school children have to sit on the floor or how you sit when on a chair?

hmmm...this is strange. Scientific evidence says that it causes veins. But then again, i dont always trust scientific evidence, for example, they say that the foods you eat wont trigger zits. But whenever I eat junk food, the day after, my face is a pizza!
Eh, do you see any problems? If not, keeep crossin them!
It looks very ladylike.

If you are a woman and you are over 21. For a man or a girl under 21, it's not right.
