When does sparing another become tormenting yourself?

I find that there is sometimes a fine line between being nice and being used... I guess I am not used to putting myself first, but if no one else puts first (or even in their top 10), then I find that it becomes expected behavior, and I start to feel used.
I try to lead by example, but some...make that most... people are so self-centered and focused on themselves that they just don't (can't?) see that anyone else may need a little help.

Yeah there is a point.....and it's always tormenting. The real question is, to what extent is one willing to go to make another person smile.....?

This is a question I've been working on today.... If face to face..... Somebody "dies" ( maybe just inside? )
You or I ? Do you die for another? or let them ?
