my 6 mos old was diagnosed today with bypass constipation...the doctor said to give prune juice to her about 2 oz. a day, I'm wondering if blueberries will provide the same results as the prunes in juice form?

Not quite.. Prunes have a chemical that actually acts as a natural stool softener, in addition to the fiber. Prune juice concentrates the softener aspect of prunes, and is the most effective.

I don't think so. Prune juice works well, and so does apple juice. My doctor also suggested adding a little (about 2 Tbsp) light Karo syrup to a bottle when my mine were constipated, and I found that not only did it work better than prune juice, but because of the sweet taste it was a whole lot easier to get them to take it!

Why would you question the doctors remedy at the expense of your baby's health! Just go with the prune jiuce!

hmmm, never heard of that. My son used to get constipated a lot. I used to massage his belly. There are three techniques you can use:
1) Take two fingers and draw a big question mark on her belly 10x's as if you were tracing his digestive tract.

2)After above is done do 10 half circles going clockwise if you were looking at her belly.

3) Finally, take your index finger and middle finger and walk them back and forth left to right 10x, doesn't matter what perspective you have on this. Right to left or left to right is fine.

Apple juice works well also.
Good Luck!
