For what to write about, you need to 'search deep feelings'.
I must contradict a previous post, and say Haiku is not simple in the least, if done properly. I find the discipline of Haiku very stimulating.
It's a Japanese form, which APPEARS simple. You are allowed three lines. Five syllables in the first and third line, and seven syllables in the middle line. The entire poem MUST be a nature-metaphor, which expresses what you want to say, without saying it directly.
Definitions: metaphor= 'she is icicle thin', 'reptile smiling lips' (if you use 'as' or 'like', it becomes a SIMILE, which is not part of the technical definition of Haiku.)
Example:
~communication~
words flying wild, free,
crash blindly into unseen
windows. fall silent.

The results will probably not be "great art", but o.k. for people who otherwise would have been completely lost.

express your feelings towards yourself
think about something along these lines
i like the feel of my beauty within
it feels like my heart is being played like a harlequin
my head is swimming because i'm thinking about
he feels my heart with such joy
he's my boy
my toy

Hey.. you're not talking about Haiku right? This type of poem is very short and simple.
How about "Life is cruel?"

by the slightest touch of her
nimble finger tips,
all the air in one room
subsides,
and my lungs stick together
