Take a fine sand paper or sanding block (available at hardware stores) sand the entire area to be painted. apply kilz as a primer tinted in your color of paint, then paint away.

Clean them with TSP (tri-sodium phosphate_ wear gloves. If there are or were smokers in the house, you may want to seal with Kilz (I think kilz 2 for latex) that nictoine sh*t will bleed through and discolor light color paint if there is a build up of it.

Well I have always used MR. Clean (diluted) to clean walls, and then paint with a Hi-Gloss Enamle to paint it again.... good luck

I use mr. clean dilluted with water and a white rag, but if i was gonna paint my walls i wouldn't wash them first,like my father said ,when you put a chemical mixture like paint on you walls it chemically neutralize dirt and germs ,just like when you send your clothes out to be dry cleaned.

regular cleaning products like pine sol and warm water. i found that killz really makes the color you paint over it look great. it's extra work but well worth it.have a nice holiday.

try tsp and water rince well and thell be clean...
