Carry some chewing gum in your purse and when his chewing becomes extreme, pop a slice into your mouth and chew it for a couple minutes. Then place the wad of gum on the end of your nose. If he doesn't ask why its there then the two of you probably should consider a marriage counselor

not to be offensive but i would think that it would be no problem to tell your husband that, my parents tell each other everything and are not afraid or reactions because they love each other weather or not they chew like a cow

You should be able to tell him that without hurting his feelings or starting a fight. That is not a big deal and if you are scared to tell him that, he must be REALLY sensitive.

Surely you’re kidding. If my husband was so sensitive I couldn’t tell him something that simple, our marriage would have ended long ago.
