So I ran out of ink and the carterage for my Brother laser printer is close to $65 (Office Max, Office Depot and WalMart) I did see a knock off on the web that would fit my printer for about half the price and was tempted to buy it. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I have never had much luck with "compatible" toner cartridges. I have a number of the HL-2040 printers (TN-350 toner cart) and you can do better than $65 for Brother Branded. Search the web. Try Amazon. I have bought a lot of Brother cartridges from makobusiness.com. They seem to have the lowest prices everyday.
