Most states have welfare. If you make little money and have no benefits you might qualify for medical for the pregnancy and WIC for formula, milk, and dairy products. Look into it.

I am a single mom. I had to quit my position and work casual. Actually the way the pregnancy leaves my exhuasted body now, I can't even work at all. Here's what I am doing. First off I pay Blue Cross every month for my individual health plan. My baby will be on subsized health plan from the government. For maternity, I will get a income supplement from provincial and federal. Also I get a preovincial supplement while I wait for my materinity leave. I may also need a medical leave for 15 weeks until I can apply for maternity. It's confusing, but single parents have to do what they can do. Working under the table is illegal, but I will do what I have to do

If you don't have medical benefits, you can apply for Medi-cal. It is a state funded organization through the counties. They provide insurance for pregnant women and all other types of individuals including the homeless. They pay for everything including your labor and delivery. So I would look them up... Since I don't know where you are, I can't give you a definate email address or telephone number but the information is available on the web.
Good Luck!!!

If your b/f has benefits and you can get covered under them, here comes the bride is a song you might want to think about learning. If he is reluctant remind him that he is half the reason you're pregnant. Unless you were trying to get pregnant, but he thought you were using prevention, then that's dicey, but I doubt that's the case. Since he is half responsible make him pay at least half the bills.
Other insurance probably is cost prohibitive, especially after the fact.

I am on MediCal (Like Medicaid but California's version.) Depending on your income, you could get low-cost or no-cost medical insurance. My fiance and I both have jobs but needed a little extra help, so I applied for that. I got it and I haven't had to pay for anything my whole pregnancy (including birth and hospital stay.) Also, my baby will be covered up until 1 year old.
To apply for this, go to your local department of social services office, or go online to your states site.
Good luck! :)

depending on the financial situation your in, getting married is not always the best route. for example, california has no-cost medi-cal for pregnant women. but thats if you fall within the poverty guidlines. which would be below $2700 something i believe. then theres insurance for mid income families called a.i.m. which you just pay a percentage of your yearly income. now i'm not sure where you live but more likely theres a health and human services department that would more than likely know how to help you. make sure they inform you on everything and go over it with you. and dont be shy to ask questions.

I had this problem. I moved to a new town, got a new job and then my husband and I got pregnant. My job didn't offer insurance and he was a full time student. I went to the family services, which is what a free clinic recommended I do. They took me on with no problem considering I was pregnant.

Go through your state medical programs they have to give you health insurance if you are pregnant but it will only last i believe until 6 weeks after birth its insurance for prenatal care inly ..that is if you over qualify for health insurance for yourself.

Go to your local dept. of human services. You can get "pregnancy medicaid" you cannot collect boyfriend's benefits if you get married because this is a pre-existing condition and is not legally your boyfriend's baby until either he signs an affidavit of parentage and birth cert. or there is a paternity test done.
