1. Lack of Software: Even though more software is available for Macs than what was out there in the past, it still can be difficult. This applies to everything from games to conversion utilities and other programs.
2. Fewer troubleshooting options: If something on a PC goes wrong, you can go grab a part from your local big box store or small pc shop. If its a Mac, you're going to have to deal with apple and their overpriced hardware.
3. Macs are dumbed down by default. You can configure them to be more expert friendly, but out of the box they assume that the user is pretty stupid.
4. Overpriced. You can get equivalent PC systems for much much cheaper.

Do not get the Air, any other is great. Here's why you should get a Mac:: There are NO CONS. The MacBook does both WinBloze and OSX, no other computer can make that statement. You have the best of the best. Apple Stores are popping up all over and you can make an appointment for a time and date, bring your computer there. They will troubleshoot it and fix it if it's a software problem it's FREE. What other computer company has stores and can make that statement? Get the 2.4 GHz with 4Gigs Ram and you got a speed machine like mine. The WinBloze people may not like a Mac computer but I'll bet they all have iPods. Go Mac and Never Go Back. Mac, the User Friendly Computer. If you read the questions here you will notice that most problems are about every computer except a Mac.

Ignorance. Most people have never used a Mac or haven't used one recently. There's a lot of misconceptions about the Macintosh. I'm usually the one to set things straight around here, so allow me to debunk a few of these myths as posted in a previous answer.
"1. Lack of Software: Even though more software is available for Macs than what was out there in the past, it still can be difficult. This applies to everything from games to conversion utilities and other programs."
While true, in some aspects, this statement is meant to mislead the general public. Sure, there may be 15,000 calendar programs for the PC, but how many of them are any good? Two or three? Simply put, crap does not survive in the Mac market. Most of the software made for the Mac is of a much higher quality than what can be found on the PC. Another thing you'll find is that there are a lot of free applications from the open source community, as Mac OS X is a second cousin to Linux and UNIX. I've been using the Mac for two years now and I have yet to find anything that my wonderful Mac can't do, and I do a lot of different things.
"2. Fewer troubleshooting options: If something on a PC goes wrong, you can go grab a part from your local big box store or small pc shop. If its a Mac, you're going to have to deal with apple and their overpriced hardware."
This is not true at all. You can use third party hard drives, RAM and other hardware and accessories. Unlike some PC manufacturers, Apple uses quality hardware in the Macintosh meaning that you're less likely to need a repair in the future. I'd just like to note that I have an original 1984 "Fat" Mac, in perfect working order. If something ever does go wrong, you don't necessarily have to deal with Apple. There are many companies that deal in Apple parts and accessories.
"3. Macs are dumbed down by default. You can configure them to be more expert friendly, but out of the box they assume that the user is pretty stupid."
This is the pot calling the kettle black. If you think Mac assumes that the user is ignorant, wait until you get to play with Windows Vista. The Macintosh doesn't constantly hound it's users with dialog boxes warning you that you could harm your computer or your firewall is turned off or your anti-virus software is not up to date. My Macintosh doesn't make silly noises any time I close a program or minimize a window. The Macintosh doesn't bombard me with annoying questions from an animated paper clip. The Macintosh is chock full of advanced features that even Windows Vista users will never see. Why, just today, I created an Automator workflow to automatically rename 90 image files and I don't know the first thing about scripting.
"4. Overpriced. You can get equivalent PC systems for much much cheaper."
If you had payed any attention lately, you would have read that the Mac Pro is $1,000 cheaper than a Dell featuring the same configuration. Over the life of any Macintosh, you'll find that you'll spend less money on software, upgrades and repairs. Even if the Mac seems pricey, which it really doesn't these days, you'll get your money's worth.
Any questions?

I have a Mac and my brother has an HP. I really like my mac it is the older model the iBook and I find it to be really fast and have never had an issue of it freezing or catching any viruses whereas when I used a PC before it would constently freeze on me and it had to be started from scratch again and all data saved on it was lost about 2 times. I think the one reason people don't like Mac's is because they make more programs and things for PC's. I have found many websites that play videos do not work on a Mac such as www.launch.com. Also when you go to buy games for a Mac they have more of a variety for a PC but Mac does have a selection of games to choose from.

There are a couple of types of computer users who might not like Macs. That would be hard-core gamers and people who have to use corporate networks or software that might not be available for Mac. For the user who wants a computer for music, movies, photos, email, web surfing, blogging, word processing, spreadsheets, and other normal computer activities, the Mac is superior to Windows computers in almost every way. Much easier to use, a lot safer from viruses, more durable, and with much better support services, the Mac rules. In addition, the used market for Macs is strong, so selling your used one in a couple of years will return more of your money.
Those who say that Macs suck are either uninformed or biased for reasons that don't matter to the normal computer user.

no, Macs do not suck, but why buy a computer who's software costs the earth!
Yes Macs are good at stopping viruses, only because all the hackers prefer to kill Bill Gates Windows, and now Windows is on Macs watch the virus rates jump!
They WERE better than PCs, but now there is NOTHING to choose!

They don't suck, its just brand recognition. Microsoft never came out with a Microsoft computer. They only dealt with software. Apple took the whole enchilada and paid the price with expensive hardware and upgrades. But today they have a hold of market share greater than before. Gates new what he was doing.

well the reason is, is that many people arent used to the way they are set up. everyone is used to the microsoft setup no one wants to mess with it. and i don;t think they suck at all. you also have many other things like less selection of items like for PC's you have a wider variety of games and things... it is what i have heard so. i hope i have been of help....
