I work for a doctor and his wife is the R.N. in our office, I'm the receptionist, secretary, insurance clerk, etc. Small office, just the 3 of us. I've been there only 2 years. Last year we did nothing about Christmas, but today they took me to lunch as a "thanks" I guess. A very nice restaurant, lovely lunch and a good time. My question is -- I thanked them after lunch - but should I do something else, I'm thinking a "special" Christmas card to re-thank them in writing. I don't want to go overboard but it was a very nice gesture on their part. They are very down to earth, unassuming people. I've been told I'm the first employee they've taken out like this! Is my verbal thanks enuf??

I don't think a nice card would be inappropriate.

I'd send flowers or wine not just as a re-thank you but also as a wish for a good holiday. Nothing grand, since they are your employers and that can get icky.

I agree.....get a really nice, personal Christmas card and add a note in your own hand. Merry Christmas ;)

I'd send them a thank you card. Or give them a box of Godiva chocolates or something.

Send them a thank-you note, but a lil gift basket for the 2 of them to enjoy. I wouldn't go to crazy, afterall I am sure you deserved it :)

Give them a a thank-you card and a nice box of chocolates. Don't go overboard or it will look like brown nosing instead of a sincere thanks.
