Kangaroos, boomarangs, other funny animals, Men At Work, Olivia Newton-John, Crock Dundee. The Sidney Opera House is recognized, but most don't know where it is.
And, sad to say, Foster's beer (I know, no one over there drinks is).
We don't have any Vegimite.
In the past, yanks (that's me) and Aussies got on great, partially because 40,000 Americans (or more) died defending Oz from the Japanese. However, the younger generation has has no clue how close they came to speaking Japanese as their first language.

Many of my friends have been there. All have made positive comments.
What I've seen on TV looks very nice.
I have met a few Australians and liked them. They seem a little more relaxed than your average North American.
I've heard that it gets very hot and the Aussie salute seems to be a problem.
I would like to see Australia and NZ, but distance is a problem, with so many other great places closer to NA.

I'm from Michigan in the US (do other people in other countries know the states or not?? idk). When I think of Australia I think of like the Outback, with outdoorsy nice people with amazing accents. I wonder what our accents sound like. Probably not as cool as yours. I don't really know that much about it besides some stars like Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe. Do you have states? Wait...you have territories right? I have always wanted to go to Australia--it seems like an entirely different world!

Basically all my knowledge comes from Crocodile Dundee. I think of the people of Australia as big boozers who like to be outside all the time. Kind of like the American version of rednecks. Narrow minded, huh? Sorry, as you can see I know very little about it. Probably less than any other continent.

Aussies fought bravely in wars in the past in the defence of others. So they're decent in that sense. Also they have a down-to-earth straightforward, no-airs attitude. A small minority of them might be racists, though.
A desired tourist destination.

Aussies are cool, and the people and culture are often used in advertising/marketing in the USA.
