To feel love is to be aware of a deep loss that you have never felt or experienced before - it is something so draining that it brings tears to your eyes in a heartbeat and sends you over the edge at the first few notes of a song. It keeps you up with cold shivers at night and makes you empty on the fullest days of your life. Yet all human beings strive to know love - why I cannot tell you, but the only thing I do know is that to truly love something you must let it go.

Love is simply a level of attachment to an object or concept.
Varying levels or types of love are given different distinctions, such as the variance in how you might love a particularly decent piece of chocolate cake, to how you might love a close friend, to how you might love your wife.
Plato wrote a great deal on Love, and how to define it, and also made a number of disctinctions therein.
Much of this can be found at the following web address:
http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/love/
Much of Plato's though on love comes from The Symposium.

Love is the desire to be with someone on an emotional level. To feel hurt when someone hurts them, to feel sad when they are not happy, to get frustrated when they are bereaved, to be happy when they are estatic. My friend, this is just an idiots description of the wordless beuty of love. Love is the only thing hollywood actually got right(although I do admit they sometimes dramaticize it) but for your benefit I think you should try it out.

when you cant: sleep
eat
be rational
feel pain
when everything around you is numb and every nerve ending in your body tries to get your attention simultaneously.when you feel that you have conquered the world and absolute bliss runs through your veins making your hair stick out of you goosebumps.
so it isn't just one word, one feeling but it is more like a syndrome or a multifaceted stone.

love is the ability to accept the interesting imperfections of life.. it is the feeling of appreciation which can never be degraded-- it continues to grow...
honestly, love need not to be defined... its value remains untouched by the seemingly right definitions... it must be felt and expressed.. nothing more
