I took a class last year (I'm in grad school) that was called Integrative Psychotherapy and one of the things we had to do was called 'Mindfulness Meditation.' The idea behind this was to find a quiet place and learn meditation skills. We did this outside in a quiet area. I usually went to a garden on campus and this helped me to appreciate nature more because I was in a quiet setting around a lot of beautiful flowers, trees, etc. There are books on this technique which you can probably find at any major bookstore like Barnes and Noble or Borders Books. I also used this meditation practice in the wilderness while camping and I found it to be very relaxing. I have reconnected with the outdoors and look forward to more outdoor activities once the snow melts!! Hope this helps or interests you!

Find a quiet spot by a stream, sit down, close your eyes, listen to the water gurgling, the insects humming, leaves rustling in the breeze, feel the sun and the breeze on you, be conscious of the smell of nature. Suck it all in as long as you want to.

You can take up hiking and camping. You could just go for a drive in the country. But do find a quiet spot.

I get outside on a regular basis. I go to the park, and instantly feel different. I just walk around the track, and breath the fresh air, and really, just look at things. watch the water, the ducks, squirrels, watch how the trees have changed over the seasons. mmm

this one is kind of easy, go to the beach and just sit there, and look around and listen to the waves hit the shore, listen tot he birds and watch them fly around,
go to a park and just sit there quietly, watching the animals run around looking for food, listen to the sounds all around you, try to smell all the smells, the air, the flowers, the grass, the trees
it is kind of easy to just sit there quietly, and observe..before you know it, you will be getting closer and closer to nature

good luck

How do you disconnect? Do you not breath? Do you not live on the planet Earth? Go outside or watch the discovery channel.
