Well... bear traps today are usually long cylinders which trap the bear without causing physical harm. They are generally baited with rotten fish... so they smell awful. Also, being trapped inside when a REAL bear comes around to investigate would be pretty scary. It may be rather embarrassing (bad pun intended) when the forester comes to let you out...

I've always found the biggest disadvantage to stepping in a bear trap was all that time that you had to spend chewing off your own leg. I mean, come on!, I've got better things to do!

**1st guess: well, that just might make you bear dinner
~and, I bet it hurts really bad too.
~not to mention the fact that you waste a lot of time trying to get out of the darn thing
~and even more time trying to figure out NEW ways to get out of the darn thing
~and then you just have to gnaw your foot off in the end anyway...that is - if you haven't already been eaten alive - or at least some what alive after he slaps the living crap out of you a few times by then...
