I always buy my wife gift certificates for Home Depot. I suggest tools that we need. After all, with the tools she buys, I will use to build the things, or fix the things she wants. So the gifts are really for her. Am I wrong?

How rude to buy the certificate. Just buy her the tools. Then she doesn't have to go back to the store. Then she won't get behind on her housework.

Oh Vincent, I think you already know the answer to this question. This is not a gift you give your wife for Christmas. I know alot of guys would be salivating over this gift though for Christmas. But for your wife, Sweetie you need to give her something more for her, not for your house or whatever it is that needs to be fixed. Have you ever thought about a gift certificate to a spa so she can be pampered. Better yet, how about a certificate for the both of you to be pampered for the day. This way you spend time together away from things that need to be fixed and enjoy a day of doing nothing but being waited on. Say for massages or pedicures. Yes real men do get pedicures too. And once you had a massage, you both could go out to a nice dinner. This should be a day away from fixer uppers. So in this case, yes your wrong on this gift. But it is a good try, you just have to direct your sights for certificates towards what she would like, really like. Because Vincent, if Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy! Smile

Well, I am a woman who would LOVE to get tools for a gift. I am wild about working on things around the house and like to do woodworking as a hobby.

For you wife I suggest that she start giving you gift certificates to Victoria's Secret. The things that you buy there may go a long way to repairing the damage you may have done to your marriage.

Unless she's really into doing home improvement jobs herself, these gifts are not for her. Now, if you want to give her certificates for you doing work around the house, then that's a gift, though not a good one if that's all you give her. A good husband would just fix the things instead of just using that as a cop out for a gift. Start thinking about what she actually wants. Does she like movies, or jewelry, knick knacks, pajamas, music, etc? Start getting a little more creative, she'll appreciate it more than you know!

Your a man...men think differently from women. If you are going to buy her a gift certificate, make it for a store that only SHE can benefit from. I understand the whole idea behind home improvement, tools and fixing things up...but sometimes...its sentimental gifts JUST FOR HER that will get you the true appreciation. By getting gift certificates to home improvement stores, your getting JOINT gifts. Hope I helped! Happy Holidays!!

That is just wrong!!! Do not buy your wife gift certificates to home depot and suggest tools YOU want! Women do not want tools as gifts. Try jewelry or perfume defiantly not tools. This is your sick idea of buying a present for yourself!!!!!!! Would you want her to get you a gift certificate to Victoria Secret and suggest lingerie you should buy so she could wear it for you????(I just asked my fiance and he said hell no if I bought you a gift certificate to HD you would kick my a**, I'm not that dumb!)

Umm no the gift really is for you since you'll be the one using the tools. Don't use that as an excuse so you can get new tools

Try getting her a gift certificate to a Spa instead. That will make her alo happier

yes. you know you're wrong. what a stupid man. bad man. get down. bad.
why don't you just do like good ol' homer j simpson and buy her a bowling ball even though she can't bowl. and then when she says that, suggest she give it to you....
What will be funny is the day that she goes to home depot and trades the gift card with someone for real cash and goes and buys something she really wants, something you should have gotten her in the first place, you jerk.
try some perfumes, bath supplies (not caulking and tile), gift certificate to a clothing store (for women) diner at her favorite restaurant, chocolates. etc etc

Women don't want tools, hun. They want to be romanced. You buy her a gift certificate and tell her what you want here to get. No points in the Casanova department!
Take her out for a nice dinner(and no, I am NOT talking about Burger King). Then, give her jewelry. We love jewelry. Even when it's bad, it's still good.

You really did fall off the turnip truck. A gift, for birthday, Easter, Christmas, or just for the heck of it should be something they would want but would not buy for themselves or something you really want her to have that you think would make her feel good.
Something like an expensive but sexy night gown, you both win.
Or diamonds, jewlery, clothes.
Go to the mall with her, walk around and see what see looks at, what she would like to have and go back and get it for her.
Tools, unless she is a plummer or carpenter or into crafts is not what a woman would want.
Get your head out of it and make the gift about her, not u.

Sheesh! no sane wife wants a gift certificate from home depot. where's your spirit of romance, anway? at home depot? Give her a lovely piece of jewelry, a gift certificate to her favorite store, take her out to dinner, something that tells her you appreciate her as a female not a jill of ALL TRADES......
