Stress, thyroid problems, and anemia are the top three I know of.

You should talk to your Gyno if you have miss your period for 3 months or more. Sometimes the body acts up and becomes irregular. Changes in your routine, eating habits, physical activity, emotional state, etc.... can cause this to happen.

I missed my period for 3 months at one time and my Gyno put me on birth control to help regulate it. She tested my thyroid and also tested to see if I was anemic and everything came back fine. After taking the medication (Yasmin), my period started the next month.

If you don't get your period by late January/ early February, you should talk to your Gyno.

One thing that can cause missed periods is if you have an eating disorder. If you get too thin your body just stops your periods. It's a dangerous sign if you are, indeed, dangerously thin.

Also, your hormone levels could be wacked out. It happens to every woman at some point.

You could also have an infection of some kind.

It would be worth it to make an appointment with your GYN and get checked out.

Pelvic Inflamatory Disease (PID) can cause sterility if left unattended - it's no joke.

There are other infections, some of them STD's, that can also effect your periods, so don't mess around - get to the GYN!

Unless you are severely underweight - in that case, it is a sign that your body is shutting down. So eat!
