What can one do to reduce one's rental expense ?

I am renting a studio/room in a home in San Jose, Ca. I want to return to school --after being in the work force for a while-- but I need some way of reducing my cost of living in order to make this a reality.

you can haggle the price with your landlord...or find a new place. sorry.
