Yes but lately American girls are getting thinner.
I think what really looks terrible on all women is the "anorexic" look. Ladies!!! Realize that a little fat on women is attractive

Generally speaking, yes they are. Americans in general live in a culture of excess. If a little is good, more is better. Unfortunately this is not always true...certainly not when it comes to the waistline. But this is only half the problem. The other half is that we stuff ourselves with concentrated complex carbohydrates that jack up our insulin levels. With an excess of insulin in the body, the body CAN'T burn fat! In addition to this problem, continued intake of this kind of food tends to produce diabetes as well. So you can add that American women are also generally less healthy than their European counterparts. One last morsel of agony is that we use tons of MSG here in America...this stuff has been clinically shown to make it easier to get fat and stay fat. One of the first things that europeans notice when they come here is all the fat people...especially women. This is because european women are more focussed on looking good for their man. Many American women expect a man to love them for reasons other than appearance...and while that is certainly a part of it, physical appearance is also part of it for a man. Men are visual in a way that women are not...it's the way we're made. Feminism has played a part in women not caring about how they look for men in this country, too.

For the youthful generation (those currently between 15 and 35), I would say yes. It is attributed to several things, two of which are the quality of food and how much exercise they get.

In Europe, there are not nearly as many fast food restaurants, nor are there as many processed foods available in the grocery store. They don't load their candy with nearly as much sugar as American candies and they do not consume as much candy as Americans. Overall, they eat more healthy and natural foods.

In the urban European areas, people get much more exercise than Americans do. Everything is much closer together so peole are able to walk, bike, or rollerblade (yes, they still do this and there are many fantastic asses because of it) to their destinations. People don't drive everywhere--indeed, many don't even bother with cars. They can get away with this because the public transportation system is fantastic. Public transportation means walking to and from bus stops, train stops, or street car stops.
Any given day, we Americans can walk out the front doors, get in our cars, drive to our destination and park just outside it. On the way to our destination, it is perfectly acceptable to swing my McD's and grab a burger and a shake. In America, even if we considered walking to a bus stop, so few places have good or affordable transportation that we shouldn't even call it an option!

Americans are fat. It is because we do everything we possibly can do to make ourselves fat.

From what I have witnesses I would have to say YES ! I did see some fat European women as well but not nearly as many as in the states.

This comes from visiting 4 European countries.

I lived in Germany for eight years while I was in the Army and from what I see other people in other countries have different eating habits than what we have here in the US. In Europe they eat their dinner in the afternoon around 2pm and then have something light later on. They also don't eat eggs like we do. For breakfast they eat a lot of cheeses, cold cuts, and coffee.

So I think that most Europeans are slimmer than we are. They also do a lot of walking.

Coming from Europe....I can say Yes! They don't eat the crap American women eat! The lifestyle in Europe is totally different. It is a laid back lifestyle. We eat healthy food and with our families at home not go through a drive through and eat in the car on the way home. Also we ride bikes around.

Yes, they eat much smaller portions. One European woman said they get just enough to get a good taste of the food, and that's enough for them.

America has the largest obesity rate in the world, so yes. You can even see it in american children they have larger butts and develop breasts much earlier (well fat anyway) than they did 20 years ago.
