i would suggest seeing a therapist. this problem may go deeper than you realize. a visit with a therapist will help you find out why you feel this way. good luck!!
one answerer suggested finding something productive to do, but i know from experience that when you feel this way, nothing seems productive or interesting. i've been in deep depression and anxiety because i didn't know what to do to stop feeling this way and it just would not go away, even though everyone told me to shake it off, but it's something that you can't just shake off. seeing a pychiatrist and a therapist helped me gain perspective of my life and made me realize that only i could change the things in my life that made me feel this way. it was a long and sometimes difficult road to go, BUT, it helped me gain my life back. i wish you all the best!

I have suffered from depression and anxiety more than a few times in my life. I tried anti depressants (not a bad idea for the short term) and I tried a therapist (didn't work for me but I won't Dis the field of mental help) and I also tried self medicating with drugs and alcohol, etc. I am no pillar or poster child of mental health but the best things I have done to over come the black cloud is to seek God. I am not "religious" but I am a believer and I have strong faith in God and I seek him through reading, prayer, meditation, and sometimes church. I am not advocating you become some religious nut but rather embark on a spiritual awakening. Church is merely a way to feel connected to community but I have found that church can wound more than it helps sometimes. I prefer to read inspirational books and to talk to others about my experiences in life. It doesn't hurt that I experienced Divine intervention before but you can be inspired by others experiences if you haven't been there before yourself. You should get a mild anti-depressant and start exercising a little. Get a dog and walk, walk, walk. This will bring a sense of purpose for you since a dog depends on it's owner to see that it's exorcised regularly. You will start feeling better about your self and maybe lose a few unwanted pounds to boot. Also, pets can reduce depression and also relieve stress, it's a medically proved fact. You live a longer more fulfilled life as well. Oh, you should lay off the mind altering chemicals too (if you partake). Recreational drugs (that includes alcohol) tend to muss up the brain juice. It becomes increasingly difficult to deal with the chemical imbalances when you come off the drugs & booze and eventually you will need these things just to maintain normalcy.

You may want to talk to someone who is a good listner and not necessarily there to give you advice. You have already taken the first important step by asking but try to remember in this room you only get what you pay for. You know my meaning.

Each area has a community mental health clinic. There are nice people there that are experienced in talking about these issues.
