Unlike all the other answers, I say NO WAY, every generation of teenagers has a natural rebellious stage, based on the societal values they were raised in. Teen angst is based on the coming of age, the battle twixt idealism and reality while trying to carve out an individuality for themselves. It is a totally natural process that youth rebel against the establishment and desire to create a more perfect world through their collective experiences. It is all socio- economically driven in a country's ethos. I work with young people and believe, they are like every other generation of teens, PROMISING and full of potential. They are just trying to make the world a better place as they see it, idealistically. For those disagreeing, what hope do you give the future??????

I don't think so. I've taught middle school for 17 years and have 3 teens at home. While there are a LOT of out of control kiddos, most of them are normal and caring. Times have definitely changed. A lot of choices they make and risks they take are not what we would choose to do, but that's because we are from a completely different generation. Teens have been characterized as monsters by the media, but the reality is, that's just not the case.

Most people do lose their virginity at 15. I didn't lose mine until 17, but I wasn't the type of person who went to a lot of parties. I also never really was into having multiple partners. I've always enjoyed relationships better than flings. I know a lot of people are into that type of lifestyle, and I don't judge. It just was never for me. And, when is someone ready for sex? Really, the way I see it, you aren't ready until you are able to deal with pregnancy and having a child. Even with birth control and condoms, there's always that chance. It's a chance you take everytime you have sex. That's why I don't understand peopel who get abortions or regret having their kids; acting as though children are a burden. However, Im not one to talk because at 17 I damn sure wasn't ready to deal with that reality. I could now, if need be. But, at 17 I wasn't ready and should not have done it. But, I'm not perfect. Take care

I am 18, i fell pregnant at 16, gave birth at 17 and i am extremely mature for my age, i take care of my mother and brother (theyre both rather lazy) on top of taking care of my 1 and a half yr old. Some teens are out of control and i do see it alot but theres us few that are far from that and were still labelled, i find this unfair. I pay bills, i cook and clean and i do sometimes go out with my friends, is this what you call out of control? People should stop criticizing everything we do and then maybe they'll see a difference.

Yes. I do believe that the average teenager is out of control and it is partially due to the government. Some parts fall on the parents and some on the teenager.

Elmer if they are it is because the parents are allowing them to be and the teenager is going to do everything that they can get away with. Are the our of control? No more then we were when we were teenagers. They just have more stuff to be out of control with. We let them grow up with no boundaries and now you want to have boundaries on them??? That never works
