No it does not matter at all. Burn at a lower speed like 4x will be better because most dvd player can read it--some players have trouble reading disc that were burned at high speed. The best dics are Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Don't use Memorex they're one of the worst ever.

Yes the speed can matter. What does your Burner say? Usually it will say (check out the write speed, not the read speed)16X or 8X or 4X. These are the maximum speeds it can write. So if it is a 4X burner then the maximum disc you could buy that would work would be 4X, now if you have a 16X burner you can use a 16X (16 speed, 8 speed, 4 speed) disc to burn with. Now just so you know the faster you burn something the more likely it is to have read/write errors. So if you are burning something important puchase any speed disc that your burner is capable of burning but in the software make sure you set it up to burn at 4X (4 speed) for best quality. Hope this helps..

Yes..

You should always burn DVD's at their rated speed, eg burn 8x's at 8x etc.. Of course this is dependant on the Burner you have.

The only exception at present is 16x, which are probably best burnt at 12x.

For the best burn quality and the best longevity of data, Taiyo Yuden is the best blank media to buy
