Yes, if you have gained 8 pounds in one week that means you're retaining fluid. You need to get rid of the excess fluid to avoid getting Toxemia. Here's how:

1. For 3 days, don't eat any "fast food" (McDonalds, etc.) or canned foods. Eat only fresh or frozen food.

2. Don't add salt to anything you eat.

3. Drink plenty of water (not pop unless it's sodium free... Diet Rite is the only one I know of that is) to flush the salt out of your body.

At the end of the 3 days, you will probably have lost most of the 8 pounds. If you haven't, then you'll want to call your doctor.

the doctors say that you are supposed to gain a pound a week to have a healthy weight baby. but the last month i gained something like 16 pounds. it all depends on the person and the baby.

First of all I would like to say congratulations on your new addition to the family. I have 2 beautiful little girls and they are the light of my life.

There is nothing wrong with your weight gain. I didn't start putting on weight with either of my children until i was close to the third tri-mester. Everything is fine, you are going to have a baby with chubby little cheeks that you can kiss and make rosy.

Your getting at the end of the pregnancy, so your baby is gaining quite a bit so unless your doctor seems concerned with the weight gain i wouldn't be.

YES! I would call your doctor immediately and let him know. They need to make sure you aren't getting toximia (I am not sure of the spelling) as this does happen a lot at the end of a pregnancy. Are your feet and hands swollen?

The baby gains like an ounce every other day...plus you are more and more hungry...

Who cares if the dr says it is or not...it iwll be over soon

Nope. It comes fast at the end, but you did good up to this point. Just be obedient to your body now! It's baby time!
