If you are a "public servant" and recieve a monetary gift, what is the proper language on a holiday card? do you give a hodliay card or a thank you?

who's the gift from? if someone gives you a gift cuz of a specific thing you did that they're showing you they appreciate you for, i would extend the extra effort to respond in kind so that they see you appreciate they're generosity and appreciation, which is rare for people to give... if everyone you work with has gotten the same gift from an obscure person, it might not be impolite to answer with just a thank you, but it all depends on circumstance

At work---the monetary gift should never be given as a gift, but, as a bonus. You just say thank you and let it go at that.

If you are a ''public servant'', you have no business accepting gifts of any sort from outsiders. It could be taken to be a bribe.

Having been a "public servant", it was against policy to accept anything from anyone. If you did accept something as small as a cup of coffee, it could be considered a bribe.
