depends on the game.

a ps1 memory card fits in a ps2

a ps1 game can only save on a ps1 card.

you can then move all of your save data from the ps1 card onto the ps2 card (the ps2 card is bigger and can hold several ps1 cards' worth of memory/saves)

but a ps1 game can not load from a ps2 card

No because there isnt enough memory on a ps1 memory card...ps2s need 8mb memory cards

you use ps1 memory cards for ps1 games on the ps2
you cannot use your ps1 card to save ps2 games!

U can use it to play the games that was saved for playstaion 1 games but you can not save playstaion 2 games on it. So yes it work but only for playsation 1 games.
