Italy has never been lucky in their history. They lost to Korea last world cup and that was because they didn't have luck. They lost to France in 1998 because they didn't have luck. They lost to penalties to Brasil in 1994 because they didn't have luck. They again lost in 1990 because they didn't have luck. And now people come and say that Italy were lucky in the world cup, I say screw you. They were the most dominate team in the world cup. Their defence, offence, and their goalie were number one. Speaking of luck; I have to say that the most luckiest team of all were France. They were lucky enough to get out of the group stages. They played some underdog teams and they were lucky to get out of group stages. If korea would have won their match, then France wouldn't have even qualified for the round of 16, so STFU and congrats the Italians because they rescued the cup from giving it to some cheating, lucky team known as France.

Oh yeah, i just wanted to remind you that France beat Spain and Brazil while Italy was shítting their pants against the powerful Australia and Ukraine. Plus, we all saw how the game against Australia was clearly won at the last minute with a non-existing penalty awarded to Italy. So I just have to say everyone gets lucky at some point: Italy got an easy draw, and a happy ending against the Aussies.
And if Korea would have beaten Switzerland, then it would have been Korea 7, France 5, Switzerland 4, Togo 0. So yes whatever the result of Korea-Switzerland was, France would have made it to Round of 16, so learn some math.

Of course it was luck. they were lucky in beating australia with a real dodgey call, which after the game the ref realised and apologised.
They won on penalties for gods sake!!!!! There is a 50-50 chance of scoring a penalty, and with there luck they won it. France had to play quality and worthy teams like brazil and spain whereas italy fluked wins against ukraine and australia. It would have been interesting to see how they went against brazil and spain hey!!!

All these italians may well say that they didn't win the other world cups by flukes, but so wat, this one was luck. the team, coach, managers, tactics, formation and oppostition was completely different when they won them.

It was complete luck with very little skill involved. You want skill look at the goals scored by tim cahill, joe cole or klose, not totti or grosso!!!!!!!

FRANCE DESERVED IT DONT DENY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Italy won the world cup because they wanted it the most. They had the best defender of the tournament, Cannavarro controlling and not letting anybody get past him. They had one of the best midfielders in the world, Pirlo who was putting beautiful passes through. And then they had a good strick force with Luca Toni and Totti. Grosso, Buffon and Del Pierro also had fantastic tournaments to add to the tally. How can you say we dont deserve to win the World Cup when we beat Germany fairly on there own soil? We beat Australia and Ukraine on the way as well. Plus we had one of the hardest groups in the World Cup (Ghana - made it the furthest for an African nation, Czech Republic - players like Rosicky, Nedved, Baros, Jankulovski, and USA who are always going to be a danger at getting that point)...FORZA ITALIA

Anyone can say anything they want, but the fact is that Italy did not win the World Cup four times by accident. If World Cups were won by accident Honduras would be champ.

Actually YOU are the bigger joke than Italy, now go and read slowly what tru3alex wrote and you will realize how Italy became the World Champs..... and I just want to add to his answer that Nedved was all over Italy and if Czechs wouldn't get a red card Italy wouldn't even pass the group..... and I say screw YOU!!!!!!

ps: You will NOT get a present from COOL SANTA......... how about that... ha!!!!!!!!

It seems that whenever you lose, it means that you are unlucky. You forgot the Euro 2000 when you ahd already opened the champagne bottle but had to close them shortly after (sorry for that). But when you win it means that you are the best.

Why can't you admit that when you lose it means that your opponent was simply stronger.

It is true that we were bad in he qualifying group but if we look at the team we met after and compare them to yours, we had much difficult teams to meet.

According to the latest FIFA national team classiffication :
Italie met : Australia 39th (wow how hard and you got lucky there), Ukraine 13th (3-0 very good) and Germany 6th (won a.p so lucky)
France met : Spain 12th (3-1 nothing to say, perfect), Brasil 1st ( the former World cup winner) and Portugal 8th ( 1-0 lucky I admit)

From these figures we see that we had better teams to face than Italy so stop saying that you were the best team in 2006.

anyway congrats

Then why did the referee in the Australia/Italy game apologise after the game for his decision to award a penalty in the last few minutes of the game?

Bullseye Bullseye Bullseye

We held Brazil to a nil nil score in 1994 and we lost in the shoot out, we never carried on forever about it. France couldn't even buy a goal their first games. They were the lucky ones to get that far.
