I was trying to burn movies i downloaded to a DVD-R and it didn't burn but deleted all my files from my documents. I lost all my school work! plz help!

I agree with Mycloud, however, in case you have lost the data, then,
use a data recovery utility to recover your lost data.
Dowmload and install these. PC Inspector File Recovery

This above is a freeware while the below is not however, it is a very good utility to recover your lost data.

Uhhhh, 1. Virus 2. Maybe your DVD Burner is shot

Burning data onto a DVD-R doesn't usually erase your documents, you might have a virus.

You could try system restore. Click Start the go over Programs then over accessories then system tools and click system restore. Hopefuly you have it turned on

Restore to an earlier time.very last restore point so you don't lose to much data..
