Have the Saudis made a deal with Bush for the Northerfn Part of Iraq, and another concession to Iran and Syria. Maybe that why Bush is waiting to January so that the transfers can be made succesffuly.

Who would have guessed that the Saudis are Sunnis (mostly)? They obviously don't like to see the Shi'ites beat up on the Sunnis. And, of course, if the Shi'ites take power over Iraq, that will give Iran a heck of a lot of power, being that they are mainly Shi'ite. So, if the US were to just pull out of Iraq, you'd end up with Saudi Arabia fighting Iran through their Iraqi puppets. There are a heck of a lot more Shi'ites in Iraq than Sunnis, so it might just be a matter of time before the Shi'ites win.

The best solution, near as I can tell, is to separate the three groups (Shi'ite, Sunni, and Kurd) into autonomous regions and leave each other alone. Of course, the Sunnis get the short end of the stick since they don't have any oil, so they want the other groups to give them money. That might have to be done just to keep the peace.

Maybe, just maybe the Saudi's are nervous that the US will pull out and maybe they will have a big pile of crap on their door step to deal with. I think the US is starting to call in what is owed us. This may be a good sign. It seems to me that no one wants to take responsibility except for the US in a lot of tough world issues. Maybe making some of the people actually step up to the plate is a great thing to do. We will see what happens. One thing for sure we are going to keep a base(s) in Iraq for a long long time.

Read Hatreds Kingdom by Dore Gold. The Saudis love our money (and our soldiers, when they are threatened). This has NOTHING to do with Bush. The Wahabi sect of Islam has been the major force behind the jihadi and terrorist movement for years. They are determined to get all non-muslim foreigners out of the Middle East in general.
