I have had a cyst that has doubled in size over this past year and now my doctor suggests I remove the entire ovary.

I had to have one ovary removed because of a cyst too. It hasn't changed anything for me except now I don't have constant pain on that side any more!

Since you have two ovaries, if you have to have one out, the other will still allow you to menstrate, get pregnant, and have plenty of estrogen. If nothing is wrong but a cyst that is causing trouble, you should be able to have a normal, healthful life.

It is important to get the pathologist report to determine that it is just a cyst. Whatever the problem, it is a good thing to have an answer.

Good luck LH

My sister had an ovary removed back in like '85... she also had it removed due to a cyst strangling it... she has had 2 children since then and still gets her period.. no changes what so ever... just missing a small organ! (She is now 36) You will be fine!

There are many women who only have one ovary and have been able to conceive children. Talk to your Dr. about your concerns.
Hope this helps.
