I am starting to understand what kind of phone i will need, sim cards and loading, but where does the phone number come into the picture? Does it come with the sim or the prepaid load?

in the sim card. and you can buy them anytime anywhere in the philippines. and when it comes to loading system if ever that your credit is brown out, we have electronic loading system out there as low as 30 pesos and you'll stay connected and it's also available mostly in a sari-sari store.

Phone number for a cell phone in the Philippines comes with the sim as it is in other places.

If you buy a simcard it should come up with a packet with evrything in there. There are instructions and you can also find your phone number in that packet. Your sim has also an initial load so you don't need to buy prepaid card.
