From personal experience, I have to say the best way to begin is by renting space at a craft show. You will get feedback from people that attend , make some money and find out if your product has what it takes to sell. You may even make some contacts with people who own shops ( this happened to me ) and want to buy your work. Also, you will learn from other crafters who have been successful in other venues, how to market your craft. Its a lot of work but also a lot of fun.

Check with you local high schools or churches. Many of them have craft fairs and for a fee you can set up a table or booth and sell your crafts.

Once you get into one or two shows, other places that are having shows will contact you to be in their show(s) also.

One great way is to donate an item to a charity or a silent auction, this is a good free way to get your name out there (be sure to attach a 4 X 6 card with your name or information on it). Ask shop owners if they take things on consignment, you would be surprised at how many small shops still do this. If it is a wearable, wear it every where and be prepared to sell the one you are wearing. Carry cards with you ALWAYs, you never know who you will meet. Check your local musuems, gift shops, and also make a visit to your local chamber of commerce, they usually are full of information to help you get started. Bring your finished projects to work with you, word of mouth helps.

at school, the library, at your local hair salon, your job, or get some of your family members to buy some from you and show off to their friends and families.
